You awake in the middle of the night. There is a scratching noise at your bedroom window. Could someone be trying to break into your house? Could there be a man with a mask and an Echo chainsaw? Maybe a wild animal lurks outside your room. You get up and gently head towards the window.

The scratching increases as you near the window. You pull the curtains back and notice the problem. There is a tree branch rubbing the window, in the wind. You should do something about that tree, next to your house.

If you call a tree service, you will have no work to do. You also will not injure yourself. You will not injure your house, or others either. However, tree services are expensive. They have to carry a lot of liability insurance.

Tree trimming can be dangerous. Are you doing the job yourself? Make sure that you can handle the work. If not, hire a professional.

Simple branch trimming is not difficult. You can easily do the job yourself. Be certain that you have the necessary equipment. You will need sturdy boots, gloves, and eye protection. Head protection is also a very good idea. You can get a black helmet. Any color will do. However, black can look menacing. This may prevent young children from entering your work area. Everyone will be safe.

Always check out the situation before you start trimming. Can you work from ground level? This is always the safest way to trim. You have less probability of complications.

Pole saws work very well for trimming branches. You can extend them out several feet. There are three types. Manual saws are good for smaller branches. Electric pole saws are good for larger branches. Gasoline saws are more portable and powerful.

The electric pole saw serve two purposes. You might have a small Mcculloch chainsaw that attaches to the pole. You can remove the chainsaw and use it normally also.

Gasoline pole saws do not have the dual purpose of the electric ones. They perform well for heavy duty cutting. You will pay much more for a gasoline powered unit. You will need to mix gasoline and oil, for the fuel, also.

Final thoughts

Tree branches can be a hazard to your house. It can also be hazardous removing them. If you think you can do the job, get the proper equipment. If it is too much for you, hire a professional.
