Humidifiers Help Save Energy

Friday, November 12th, 2010

Can humidifiers really help save energy and money? Yes absolutely many households in Germany and Austria have started installing humidifiers or luftbefeuchter (as called in Germany) within their property. Warm luftbefeuchter throws out warm steam which helps in keeping the room warm throughout the winter. And as you are getting the warm temperature you won’t have to turn the heater on at all times. Also when you have heater on your skin gets dry. Your skin will also benefit from having a humidifier as the humidity it throws out keeps the skin moisturised.

We had a record breaking winter here in United Kingdom along with Austria and Germany last year. Because of this many households have installed humidifiers in their rooms. This winter is not looking so good so it might be a good idea to have a humidifier installed in your home. Having a humidifier can also help your children breathe easily when they are sleeping at night. This is a massive reason on why parents buy humidifiers.

During the winter period the electricity and gas bills goes sky high. That is the time when people look at what they can do to keep the cost of electricity and gas down and also save energy. Keep the electricity down you will save energy, its not rocket science.

Humidifiers can be use for other purposes too other than home. You will be able to install it in bars, offices, factories, industries, restaurants and several other places. There are several kinds of humidifiers you will be able to choose from. You won’t have to buy numerous humidifiers for different rooms in your factories, because you will be able to find one humidifier to do that job. But do keep in mind that some humidifiers make a lot of noise especially big ones so it might be a better idea to get one humidifier per room to keep the noise down.

So get a humidifier and save energy!

Save Energy With Humidifiers

Everyone these days are doing things to save energy and save the planet. Plastics are being recycled with papers and cans. We are all looking for energy saving electrical equipments to save energy and the cost in our own homes. During winter you won’t have to use thermostat if you have humidifiers installed in your house. In countries like Germany people have already started installing luftbefeuchter (known in Germany for Humidifiers) to save energy, yes now you are wondering how? Just keep reading.

Humidifiers add moisture in the air that is flowing inside your house/room, and from the humid moisture the temperature just gets warmer inside the house. The summer in UK has high humidity hence we feel very hot even though the temperature is only around 18, 19 and 20 degrees. We we goto countries like Spain, Italy, Chile or India we can easily relax under the heat of 30 degrees as atmosphere is less humid. What is my point? Well its simply less humid more cold and more humid less cold. And with large amount of moisture the air will feel warmer.

Humidifiers take less energy than electric or gas heaters which also means you can save money. Make sure to insulate the loft if you have one. Some houses which are built 20 to 30 years ago let’s the heat through the ceilings or through the roof and runs into the atmosphere. Here is another way you can save energy and also it is very cost effective. If there are any gaps that allows heat to get out then you need to seal it. this way you are not letting the heat out, your property stays warm and you won’t have to turn on the heater. By doing the above you will also be saving money.

In countries like Chile and Spain humidifiers is called humidificadores and in Italy they are known as umidificatori.

Are There Real Life Magnetos?

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

When you consider people controllingelectricity with their mind a couple of things come to mind. The first would be science fiction and the second would be Magneto from X-Men and his purple helmet. However, stuff like this is starting to appear in the real world. Debbie Wolf who lives near Brighton is one of the growing number of ‘SLIders’. An SLIder is a person who believes that they have the ability to interefere with electical appliances, anything from fridges to panel heaters.

The ability Debbie claims to have is called Street Light Interference syndrome (SLI) and she has become quite famous because of it. In Japan she has been compared to comic book heroines and even characters from the BBC show ‘Heroes’. For a person who believes they have SLI, the profession Debbie has gone for is a little risky. She works in the Royal Susses Country Hospital, fortunately, no electrical equipment has gone wrong so far.

Although it’s always fun to believe that someone can yield that sort of power, it needs to be questioned. Does SLI exist or is it simply coincidences that lead people to believe they have a power. As with most things, there is a possible explanation.

One of the aspects of maintaining a good room climate is the moisture in the air. The majority of homes these days have double glazed windows and central heating. This combination alongside heaters and oil filled radiators often leads to the room’s air getting very dry. Having dry air at home can result in lots of health issues, however, it can also increase levels of static electricity within your home.

A home could be compared to that of a computer data centre. At large data centres a huge amount of heat is created, this causes the air to get very dry which causes a large amount of static electrcity. This static can cause great deals of damage to the circuits within the computers. To combat this, humidifiers are used to increase the humidity and reducing the static electricity. This can be the same in your home, a normal level of humidity would reduce the amount of staticelectricity. So really what Debbie needs is a humidifier. The reason why she doesn’t damage all the equipment at the Hospital is most likely due to them already have humidifiers within the hospital to ensure equipment like industrial heaters aren’t damaged.
