The Fiercest Animals in Africa

Monday, October 12th, 2009

africa is a whole new existence that a lot of people do not get the chance to genuinely see. But as well as some of the superb attractions in Africa, there are also some deathly animals around the entire continent. So let us take a look at some of the dealiest animals around.

Lions

There are lions throughout the whole continent of Africa, but the fiercest place that you could in all likelihood go has to be Tsavo in Kenya. This is where a vast amount of people have lose their lives by lion attacks. Which is actually something that is quite odd as Lions do not really go hunting for humans, but a quantity of them especially the males tend to attack humans a huge amount of people.

Crocodiles

The crocodiles in Africa have very powerful jaws. Attacks by crocodiles in the continent are said to be on the advance. Crocodiles kill their prey and kill human beings inside seconds by dragging them below the water.

Elephant

Although you may not believe elephants can be deathly or harmful, they are in all likelihood one of the most harmful animals. It is said that when an Elephant is on Musth, they become very unsafe to human beings and have to be avoided at all times. Their huge volume of weight and size will crush any living molecule.

Mosquito

These small little insects may appear to be harmless. But they have in reality caused the most deaths in Africa and continue to do so. The reason for the Mosquitos lethal streak is because they disperse the disastrous virus Malaria. Malaria is responsible for killing almost three thousand children every single day. In some of the countries it kills more people than AIDs and cholera does. If travelling to countries such as Africa, you should make sure that you get the needed vaccinations in place.

Go on safari to help the environment!

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

Animals have been dying out all over the world for many different reasons. Is there however a prevailing force that is causing these creatures to become endangered. To be honest we are the problem!

An endangered species is a term used to describe a species whose numbers have become so low it is at risk of becoming extinct. We cannot stop evolutionary change, so of course some animals will change and become extinct. However we are to blame for a lot of things. First of all when a safari was first started it was designed as a hunting party for rich people to hunt animals that were considered a thrill to catch. The killing of so many of these animals has led many to either become extinct or become endangered.

We do not hunt all that many animals now as we did say a hundred years ago (mainly because they are all gone). It is also against the law to hunt any endangered species like the Lion, Tiger or Giraffe because they are protected. Now instead of hunting them and killing them we are trying to save them. Safari is the best way to get people on side, or to teach them about some of the problems in the world. Diving holidays have become very popular in the eyes of many governments to try and the marine life before it gets to even worse stages.

Pollution is proving to be another major problem; we may not be shooting these animals anymore. And although we are not hurting these animals directly, our actions with burning fuels, are causing climate change to affect them. We need to start showing people what they can do to help save the planet, yet enjoy themselves at the same time. Kenya safari holidays are a great way to have fun and see the world.

Great Britain to Get Hotter

Monday, July 20th, 2009

Whenever you told anyone that you were going to take a holiday in the UK they would have undoubtabley gave you a funny look as they believe its very cold. If on the other hand you told them that you would be going somewhere sunny they would probably get envious of you.

But that could all be a thing of the past as the UK summers are look set to become even hotter. For people living in Britain, there has already been a huge heat wave which has seen temperatures actually hit as high as 30. But the thing about the weather in the UK is that it is actually a lot hotter then any other country.

If you have noticed in the summer Britain does not get dark until around 11 at night, whereas other hot countries get dark as soon as it hits 6 o clock, this is once again due down to the fact that the sun is a lot lower in the UK. So when the sun does hit your face it feels so much warmer.

But this does happen to become a bit worrying as it shows the extent of damage to the earth. Global warming is definatley something to worry about especially in Britain. Although many people may well be unhappy that the summers are getting hotter, they must also remember that global warming causes the winters to get colder. We know that the UK is very vulnerable to flooding and the last time we had some snow the whole country came to a complete and utter standstill.

So there are good and bad sides to a lot of things and this is exactly the same

Massive pollution ejectors! One way of explaining what a Cruise Liner is!

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009

Cruise ships are truly massive. They have a huge amount of staff and hold many tourists. There isn’t enough room aboard the Cruise ship for them to hold it there, so at some point they need to get rid of it?

Well many of them do dispose of their waste when they get back to port, sensibly and cleanly. It goes without saying that some of these cruise liners believe they can get away with dumping this waste in the ocean. All of the waste being produced by these monsters are too much for them to hold, they now have to dump it in the ocean. This “dumping” is unacceptable if we want to keep the oceans in clean areas like the Caribbean clean. About five years ago they generated around 30,000 gallons of sewage per day. It is difficult for us to say what the output of these ships is exactly, mainly because a new study has not been carried out.

However this isn’t the main problem. The biggest issue is the air pollution that these cruise liners create. They all have high burning Diesel Engines; all of them create massive amounts of deadly toxins that float up into the atmosphere. When a study was performed over ten years from 1991 to 2001 it showed that the British alone purchased 400 percent more cruises at the end of the 10 year period. These numbers will continue to rise, there will be no telling how many people go on a cruise in twenty years time. St Lucia holidays have become very popular, the St Lucian government has even banned some cruise liners from entering its waters.

One thing is for sure though, either we find a new way to power these Cruise ships or we are going to have to forget about them altogether. If you’re thinking of going on Barbados holidays or having weddings abroad, then think quickly before the Caribbean is just another victim of pollution. How long will it be before we cant visit the Caribbean just because it has been so badly damaged.

How long will the Caribbean coral reef be around?

Monday, May 25th, 2009

Since the world started to realise the damage being done to the planet, this question has been around. How long will we have all the coral reefs over the world and what’s causing them to vanish? There are some reasons that everybody knows as to why the coral reefs are dying and some that aren’t so obvious.

Interestingly the Caribbean contains just over 20% of the world’s coral reef and there is a huge amount of damage being done to it. In Honduras they grow several plantains; pineapple, sugar cane and bananas, they use large amounts of fertilizer. The nutrients released by this fertilizer damage coral and can kill fish in the ocean. The farms in this area leak pesticides and fertilizer into the ocean, this damages the coral reef sometimes beyond repair. But the main thing we don’t really realise is that fish are massively important to the coral reefs. The fish in the sea like to eat the bacteria that live an the coral and keep it trim to help promote growth, they also consume the seaweed that is floating around to stop the oxygen being depleted.

Apparently fish have dropped in population rates by around 70-95%, a massive fall. When we remove fish from the sea in massive amounts, we are removing a vital part of the corals survival.

Another problem is an obvious one, Global Warming. This is the “Biggy”, global warming rises acid levels in the sea and reduces the levels of Aragonite in the ocean. This is a carbonate mineral that coral requires to stay alive and even begin growth. The acid levels in the sea are rising so fast that in about 40 years they will be so high the coral wont be able to survive.

However there are few things that we can do to try and help. We can take part in some activities abroad, that allow us to get stuck in with the cleaning of the coral and enjoy ourselves as well. If you do go on luxury holidays or Caribbean holidays you could have the option to go and volunteer for a coral clean up operation, where you can help clean coral underwater or on the shore. This isn’t just rewarding, you can have a good time while you do it too.

Also if you go fishing around coral, try not to drop anchor, you will tear the coral apart and damage anything living around it

So if your thinking about going abroad or maybe somewhere tropical, maybe some of you want to have weddings abroad, it might be a good idea to get there as soon as you can. If you want you could chip in with the divers and help the coral survive, you never know how much longer it will be around.
