Why Are Plants So Important To Us

Friday, February 19th, 2010

While they may be important to your partner when you give them to her they are actually not that important in the grand scheme of things. There are many plants out there that would be dead without the help of creatures like bees and these include peaches and apricots.

However there are many plants out there that are very important for the world helping both animals to survive and even us to lead the lives that we are so used too.

Plankton

There are over 50,000 species in the light zone of the ocean alone and although we do not really see the benefit of the plankton as human beings there are hundreds of animals that do. a collection of plankton is known as a boom and one of these booms can sustain billions of creatures. These plankton are mostly found quite near the surface of the water so they can allow light in which of course allows for photosynthesis to occur. Many people will perhaps never see the importance of this plant but I will say that half of the world’s oxygen is given to us through these plants. If it wasnt for plankton human life would fail to exist, either that or half of the population would die.

Fungi

Although people think fungi causes us more problems that it does us favours it would seem that without this human life would not have existed at all. Fungi allowed plants to shift out of the sea and onto land all of those billions of years ago and they formed a symbiotic relationship with the plants that still exist today. This also allows plants to gain all of the things they need to survive such as water and the all important nutrients. On top of all of this we would see a lot of dead plants and bodies hanging around if they were not around as they decompose and return the nutrients to the earth.

It is just the way life goes, two of the least important plants to humans are the most important on the entire planet.

So the next time you are out buying your wife some flowers make sure you remember what made those flowers possible. Birthday flowers via flower delivery are a great way to make someone happy on their one day of the year.

The Fiercest Animals in Africa

Monday, October 12th, 2009

africa is a whole new existence that a lot of people do not get the chance to genuinely see. But as well as some of the superb attractions in Africa, there are also some deathly animals around the entire continent. So let us take a look at some of the dealiest animals around.

Lions

There are lions throughout the whole continent of Africa, but the fiercest place that you could in all likelihood go has to be Tsavo in Kenya. This is where a vast amount of people have lose their lives by lion attacks. Which is actually something that is quite odd as Lions do not really go hunting for humans, but a quantity of them especially the males tend to attack humans a huge amount of people.

Crocodiles

The crocodiles in Africa have very powerful jaws. Attacks by crocodiles in the continent are said to be on the advance. Crocodiles kill their prey and kill human beings inside seconds by dragging them below the water.

Elephant

Although you may not believe elephants can be deathly or harmful, they are in all likelihood one of the most harmful animals. It is said that when an Elephant is on Musth, they become very unsafe to human beings and have to be avoided at all times. Their huge volume of weight and size will crush any living molecule.

Mosquito

These small little insects may appear to be harmless. But they have in reality caused the most deaths in Africa and continue to do so. The reason for the Mosquitos lethal streak is because they disperse the disastrous virus Malaria. Malaria is responsible for killing almost three thousand children every single day. In some of the countries it kills more people than AIDs and cholera does. If travelling to countries such as Africa, you should make sure that you get the needed vaccinations in place.

Canada, Churchill the place of some of the most fantastical animals in the world!

Friday, July 31st, 2009

Churchill is on the shoreline of the west coast of Canada. Over the past few years this has become one of the most sought over environmental holidays. However does this mean that it is threatened by the change in climate?

The polar bears come inland during autumn so that they can stay on dry land, and they head towards Churchill. The polars take over Churchill and wander round taking over local villages and towns as well. The nickname, Polar Bear capital of the world, came from the fact there are so many of these cuddly creatures. This has helped boost the tourist industry around the area, and now tour operators offer Canada tours dedicated to this area, to show people the stunning environment.

Churchill is an area known as an Ecotone. When you have several environments or climates close together, this is called an Ecotone. Churchill is on the border of three of these extremely different climates. They are the Boreal forest to the south, the Tundra climate to the north east and the Hudson Bay to the north. If you have never seen the Aurora Borealis then this one of the best places on the planet. Not only does this area have all these attributes, it is also home to the Beluga whales in summer, over 57,000 of them, and has a very extensive amunt of bird fauna that cover the whole area.

Because of all the surrounding species and the Polar bears, Churchill needs to rely on the tourist industry heavily. If the environment experiences a harsh change then this area will become desolate, the animals will have to migrate somewhere else. The tourism industry will fail. Canada holidays benefit greatly from this environmental phenomenon, but how much longer will it last. Alaska Cruises also circle round to this area, so maybe that holiday is better sooner rather than later.

Visit the polar bear capital of the world, before it’s too late!

Friday, July 31st, 2009

Churchill is a place on the west coast of Canada, right on the shoreline. It has become a massive tourist attraction over the past 10 years. If the Environment were to undergo a harsh change due to pollution, the surrounding species may vanish?

The polar bears come inland during autumn so that they can stay on dry land, and they head towards Churchill. The polar bears then ram around as they want to, taking over Churchill. The fact that there are so many polar bears coming to here, means it has adopted the name, Polar Bear capital of the world. This has helped boost the tourist industry around the area, and now tour operators offer Canada tours dedicated to this area, to show people the stunning environment.

Not only is Churchill rare, there is also another rare occurance, it is an Ecotone. When you have several environments or climates close together, this is called an Ecotone. Basically it stands on a border between three very different environments. To the southern region is the Boreal Forest, towards the north west you will find the Tundra like conditions, and directly to the north is the Hudson Bay area. It is also a perfect location to see the Aurora Borealis. Not only does this area have all the se attributes, it is also home to the Beluga whales in summer, over 57,000 of them, and has a very extensive amunt of bird fauna that cover the whole area.

Because of all the surrounding species and the Polar bears, Churchill needs to rely on the tourist industry heavily. This means that is is in between three different environments and climates. There wont be any reason for people to visit here anymore, so the tourism sector will fail. Canada holidays benefit greatly from this environmental phenomenon, but how much longer will it last. Alaska Cruises also circle round to this area, so maybe that holiday is better sooner rather than later.
