FAST APPROACHING IS THE DAY OF MY THESIS PRESENTATION. I am working day and night to be able to finish everything before the due date. The materials I am to use for my thesis defense is already wrapped up. I only need to finish typing my thesis papers and I’m finished. I also ask my Mom to call the flea pest control company, so that I am sure I can work undisturbed. I’m making sure that I will not have a repeat of my harsh experience before.
I was in my senior year in high school when it happened. A thirty page research work on “The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire” due already. The day before, my Mom said that a flea pest control agents will come and fumigate the house. “You’ve got to be kidding, Mom”, I answered angrily, “I can’t stop for nuthin!”. My Mom have no choice but to reschedule the appointment next week. To be honest, this is all my fault. I took it easy and before I knew it, I am way behind my schedule.
I am working hard trying to finish my research. I didn’t realize that I am scratching my feet and legs every once in a while. Bloodsucking fleas are hard at work too, at my skin. It only caught my attention later. My skin are so red-looking and swollen. Plus the scratch wounds. But I thought not much about it. It was almost morning, so I took a quick nap. Upon waking up, I got ready again. To my surprise, I cannot move my feet. To my aghast, I saw my feet all bloated up and turning black and blue. I screamed for help. My parents rushed me to the nearest hospital. Infections have set in my feet. My repeated scratching, the wounds and the germs caused the infection – aggravated by fleas! The doctor warned us that fleas have unknown germs and diseases in them. Have I not been treated early, who knows what could have happened to me. I cursed myself for not allowing the flea pest control experts conduct their treatment just the other day. All of these could have been avoided.
Back to the present. I’m really zoned into my work. I’m pretty sure, there will be no repeat of what happened last time. I have the flea pest control experts word on that. This time, my professors will be the one waiting for me – not doctors.
