To get the most out of city life, you need to be able to afford it. There is always something to do in the city. When the weekend comes, you can choose between going to a ball game, the theater, a nightspot or just about any other form of entertainment. That’s why singles love the city - there’s always something going on.
For families, city life is often a matter of necessity. The big cities are where the high paying jobs are. The ideal solution for most families is to get a home in the suburbs, where your children can enjoy a yard to play in and you can get a sense of living in a community. While Dad may only get to feel like an outdoorsman when a dead tree limb gives him the opportunity to break out the homelite chainsaw, that’s a lot better than having no trees around the house at all!
Those who live far away from the urban centers have all of the great outdoors at their doorstep. When they wake up in the morning, they can breathe in the fresh country air and enjoy the serenity of country life, the only distraction being the sound of a husqvarna chainsaw far in the distance.
On the other hand, life can be tough in the country. Your job may be so far from your property that you find yourself leaving home early every morning and returning home late every night. You may become bored because friends are so few and far away and you only have a TV to entertain you.
Children who grow up in the country often stray away from home early and go to the city to find the things that are missing in their lives. Unprepared for city life, they sometimes get into trouble. This happens with many city kids, too, of course. They best guarantee for both city and country kids is to give them a solid foundation in morals and social values.
So what’s the answer? A lot of people have found the perfect solution in small towns not too far from the city. These towns have it all: they’ve got shopping centers, theaters and everything else you could want from the city, except maybe for a zojirushi rice cooker or other gourmet appliance. Since you’re only a couple of hours drive from the city, though, even this is only a minor inconvenience. While your small town job may not pay as much as your big city job, your expenses are less, too.
